A Mediterranean morning and an Atlanic afternoon!

We left Barcelona this morning and drove 313 k's (about 3 hours) to Zaragoza, we were very impressed to see huge numbers of wind turbines and huge arrays of solar panels along the way.
Finding somewhere to have lunch was our goal in Zaragoza, it overlooks the Ebro River and is the capital of Spain's Aragon region. We happened upon an underground carpark and when we emerged to ground level were amazed to find ourselves in the city centre, right in front of the baroque Nuestra SeƱora del Pilar basilica, a famous pilgrimage site with a shrine to the Virgin Mary and multiple domes.

After enjoying a delicious lunch we went for a wander and found a building that we christened 'The Leaning Tower of Zaragoza'. Quite precarious don't you think?

As we were returning to the car to continue our journey I was gazing
at the statue of Goya
and caught a glimpse of some other interesting statues.

The next minute I found myself in a precarious position...ankle deep in a fountain. It was the funniest thing...Peta and I laughed so much we had sore stomachs! I wish Andrew has taken a photo of it...
such a shock and so funny!!!

During the second half of the 263 km drive we called in to Pamplona where the ' running of the bulls' takes place in July each year.

This big sign was along the way a la the HOLLYWOOD sign in LA!

This statue is in the main street.

Our arrival into San Sebastian was wonderful. We were greeted by our hosts Sonia and Daniel, they made us feel very welcome and
gave us lots of information.

This was a lovely touch
and so were the lavender sachets on our pillows!
They live above the GORGEOUS apartment we have rented.

Instead of unpacking we decided to go for a walk and try one of the Pintxos bars they recommended...we went wild!

Daniel & Sonia have recommded particular pintxo in each bar & in this place it was the 'Cremoso de Chocolate'...it was DIVINE

We're LOVE San Sebastian...four nights might not be enough!

Today was the longest drive we have planned for the whole 9 weeks and we still managed to walk 10.9 k's
